Driver inexperience leads to Mahopac crash
MAHOPAC- A 16 year old Mahopac youth who recently received his driver’s license caused a two vehicle crash last week that sent a Poughkeepsie resident to Danbury Hospital. Carmel Police and members of the Mahopac Fire Department were sent to Route 6 at Croton Falls Road Tuesday afternoon after calls were received by the Putnam 9-1-1 Center reporting a serious crash.

WARWICK- The Orange County Land Trust is set to obtain Warwick’s Gibraltar Rock, a 136-acre property, with the help of a $484,000 federal grant. The Gibraltar Rock property is rich in history. Due to the property’s rock formations, it was regarded by Native Americans as sacred ground. It also became a popular place for tourists, hikers, and locals alike who often visit the area to picnic or sightsee. For decades, residents have been pushing for the property to be preserved.

Carmel man wanted in Minnesota arrested following DWI crash
CARMEL- A Carmel resident wanted in Minnesota in connection with a sexual assault was arrested Monday by Carmel Police following a hit and run crash in the county seat. Carmel Police said patrols responded to Route 6 and Stoneleigh Avenue at 10 pm and located a damaged Ford Escape with two occupants who advised the vehicle that caused the crash had fled the scene.

STAFFORD — Kevin and Lisa Webb of Clifton Springs Country Club won the New York State mixed team golf senior title after five playoff holes at Stafford Country Club on Monday. LAKE WACCABUC- A former prominent Putnam County businessman has died. Ross Weale was 85 years old. The resident of Lake Waccabuc co-founded Country Bank in Carmel in 1985. He served as President of the Putnam County Economic Development Corp. while being involved in many community organizations including serving as Council President of the Putnam-Westchester Boy Scouts of America, a trustee of Northern Westchester Hospital Center in Mt. Kisco, Chairman of the New York State Small Business Advisory Board during the Gov. George Pataki Administration and Chairman of the Tompkins Mahopac Bank’s Business Development Board.
