Lafourche Parish government aware of oil spill in Bayou Lafourche
RACELAND, La. — Lafourche Parish government said they are aware of an oil spill in the Bayou Lafourche south of LA Route 182 in Raceland. Officials in Lafourche say the leak was caused by a valve failure at a plant in Raceland and the discharge from the valve went into Bayou Lafourche.

According to Bayou Lafourche Fresh Water Executive Director Dustin Rabalais, around 9 a.m. the district was alerted to a spill within the bayou around LA 90. Speaking on the phone, en route to the spill, the director said it is unknown if the spill is contained at this time. He said he has already been in touch with the water treatment facilities and there is no danger to the drinking water.
Battle over huge new Deer Run subdivision ends with Livingston Parish settling lawsuit
Days before a federal lawsuit was set to go to trial, Livingston Parish has reached a settlement concerning a large new subdivision in the Denham Springs area. Friday’s judgment, signed by Judge Shelly Dick in the U.S. Middle District Court of Louisiana, allows the Deer Run subdivision to move forward and prevents the parish government from enforcing any present or future ordinances that attempt to “retroactively nullify or impair the development approvals and permits previously obtained.”

New Orleans' Federal City Pool reopened Saturday after being closed for repairs, according to Mayor LaToya Cantrell's administration. The pool was out of commission with no timeline on when it might be reopened, leaving the West Bank of New Orleans without a public pool to help get the community through the hot summer.
