Local deputies participate in Operation Southern Slowdown
LYNCHBURG — The Moore County Sheriff’s Department is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) for Operation Southern Slow Down this week in Lynchburg. The purpose of this multi-jurisdictional campaign is to increase traffic enforcement during July 15 – 19 to reduce speeding across the Southeast. Other participating states include Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina.

Early voting continues through July 27
Early voting begins this week in Moore County and across the state for the Aug. 1 General Election and Primaries. Early voting will be held at the County Election Commission at 241 Main Street in Lynchburg from July 12 to July 27. Hours will be Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. Those who do not vote early may cast their ballot on Aug. 1 during Election Day.
Heat Advisory issued again Tuesday
With the potential for heat index values to reach well over 105 degrees Tuesday afternoon, the National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory until 7 p.m. The advisory will include all counties in North Alabama along with Franklin, Lincoln, and Moore counties in Tennessee.
