IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — Emergency crews battled a large 2-alarm fire Tuesday afternoon in Mooresville.

According to the Mount Mourne Fire Department, the large fire broke out just before noon Tuesday, July 2, at 130 Ritchie Foam Lane.

Drivers were asked to avoid Timber Road, between Mecklenburg Hwy and Shearers Road on Tuesday afternoon. Heavy smoke could be seen from miles away.

Mount Mourne Fire reports that the incident was a large “outside debris fire.” They said a second alarm was called due to the size of the blaze.

The fire was under control by 12:37 p.m., they said.

Two firefighters were treated and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The fire is being investigated by the Iredell County Fire Marshals Office.
