Meghan Cates: Teaching is in the blood of Mooreville Elementary principal

Meghan Cates, originally from Mantachie, Mississippi, started her career as an educator at Mooreville Elementary School in 2002 as a first grade teacher. Now, she’s going into her fifth year as the school’s principal.

As a fourth-generation educator, Cates said “it was just like it was in my blood to do it.” Her great-grandfather, both of her mother’s parents and her mother were all school teachers. Cates graduated from the University of Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in education in 2002 and went straight into the classroom.
