Avoca: Farmers market opens this week
The weekly event so many of you wait for each summer has arrived in Avoca — the farmers market!. Stop by between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesdays in the Queen of the Apostles Parish Hall parking lot, 742 Spring St., to pick up fresh from the farm produce and other items for sale from various vendors.
At Wyoming Area, they still call him 'Coach': Paul Marranca honored with facility naming
Though the Wyoming Area football program’s state championship in 2019 came more than a decade after Paul Marranca passed the head coach headset to Randy Spencer, the title is part of Marranca’s legacy. Here’s another part: Thursday the Wyoming Area Football Alumni Association dedicated the school’s weight room as the Paul Marranca Performance Center. And another: though separated by time, Marranca stepped down as head coach in 2007, and distance, he lives in Arizona, the Warrior coaching staff and the football alumni still call him “Coach.”
State Rep. Merski to host Second Chance event to help those with nonviolent criminal histories
(WJET/WFXP) – A state representative announced an event with the opportunity for Erie residents with non-violent criminal histories to get back on their feet. State Rep. Bob Merski announced plans to host a Second Chance Event on Tuesday, July 30, for those with prior nonviolent misdemeanors who are looking to re-enter the job force.

Towanda, Pa. — A man was charged for his disruption of a 2023 court proceeding at the Bradford County Courthouse. Stephen Ray Benting, 31, of Sayre allegedly claimed he was going to get a witness during a sentencing hearing in Towanda, Detective Kyle Wisel said.
