MORAINE, Ohio (WDTN) — One person is dead following a early morning crash on Sunday.

According to the Moraine Police Department, first responders were called to I-75 southbound near Exit 50B around 1:39 a.m. for a reported crash. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead by paramedics on scene. He has since been identified by the Montgomery County Coroner as 23-year-old Andres Gomez.

Gomez’s passenger was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Although the vehicle is believed to have crashed into a utility pole on the side of the roadway, the cause of the crash is unknown at this time. Moraine Police claimed alcohol could have been a factor.
