Green River Arts Council to Host 24 Hour Art Competition on August 16 and 17
The Green River Arts Council and the City of Green River Parks and Recreation Department are excited to host the 19th annual Art on the Green 24 hour live art competition. Professional, semi-professional, amateur/hobbyist and high school artists from around the region compete in 2D and 3D categories and have 24 hours to create their artwork from beginning to end. The competition is held at the Historic Pavilion at Expedition Island, 475 South 2nd East, and begins Friday, August 16 at 11:00 a.m. Contestants have until 11:00 a.m. the next day to complete their work. The public is invited to be firsthand witness of amazing art creations from start to finish. The event runs concurrently with the popular River Festival celebration at Expedition Island Park and is free to the public to attend.

Torrington hosts the 2024 Wyoming American Legion Baseball Class ‘B’ State Championship Tournament from July 25-29. These teams are either the second or third tier in programs around the state. The players are 17 years old and younger. Eight teams are part of a double-elimination bracket. All games are seven innings in length. UW Planetarium Renovations Scheduled Aug. 5-14
The University of Wyoming Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium will undergo renovations and technical upgrades early next month. The planetarium will be closed Aug. 5-14 so that the facility’s two bulb-based projectors can be replaced with new laser projectors. In fall 2023, the planetarium began the procurement process to replace its projectors with a brand-new system. The successful search was completed in May.
Casper man dies in Saturday wreck; GoFundMe started for family

While at the reservoir with a group of young men over the weekend, Jared Clinger of Freedom decided to show them how it was done. CHEYENNE – Cheyenne East graduate Bricen Baktamarian placed third in trap shooting at the National High School Finals Rodeo on Saturday in Rock Springs. Baktamarian hit 196 of the 200 clays he fired his shot gun at, and finished third after a shoot-off with South Dakota’s Jude Sargent. Brandon Heck of Arkansas won the competition by hitting 198. Baktamarian was tied for second after the first go-round by hitting 99 of 100 clays. There were 149 trap shooters entered in the competition.
