A 2nd stage for Miss Moravia contest, musical groups
A major new feature of the 119th Moravia Fall Festival will be the addition of a second stage. Due to conflicts for spacing between groups on the Community Building stage, this year the committee is renting a 16’x20’ portion of the Centerville Pancake Day stage to accommodate several activities. On Saturday afternoon, after the Big Parade, the Miss Moravia contest will take place at this new location.
Library Summer Reading Challenge winners announced
The Moravia Public Library Summer Reading Challenge was a hit this year. We had a lot of readers from all age groups participate. We had three different logs. Groups were birth to 5th grade, 6th - 12th grade, and ages 18 and up. The birth through 5th and 6th - 12th all had to mark their logs each time they read for 20 minutes. They got to fill out an extra circle for completing fun activities listed on the log. The youngest group received a small prize out of our library prize basket each time they completed a row worth two hours of reading time. The 18 and up had to mark a circle for each hour of reading completed. They also had a section for activities to earn extra entries. The Friends of the Library donated all the prizes for the drawings, and the small prize basket had prizes donated from Elliott’s General Store, Iowa Trust & Saving Bank, and Dollar Tree. Here’s our list of prize winners. They have all been contacted and can pick up prizes any time the library is open.
