Burgess takes the title at Lake Champlain
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — Everything about Mark Burgess’ strategy for the Mercury B.A.S.S. Nation Qualifier at Lake Champlain presented by Lowrance was high risk, but the risk was well worth the reward as the Massachusetts angler claimed the victory with a three-day total of 62 pounds, 1 ounce. A...

Harris holds her first fundraiser as the likely Democratic nominee as donors open their wallets
PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Vice President Kamala Harris used her first fundraiser since becoming the Democrats’ likely White House nominee to excoriate the Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump as determined to roll back Americans’ freedoms. Harris traveled to Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on Saturday where she was expected to raise more than $1.4 million, her campaign announced, from an audience of hundreds at the Colonial Theatre. That would be $1 million-plus more than the original goal set for the event before President Joe Biden dropped out of the race. She told an excited group of supporters that she entered the race as an “underdog,” while expressing confidence that her surging campaign could defeat Trump. “I will fight to move our nation forward,” Harris said. “Donald Trump intends to take our country backwards.”
Little League NYS All-Star 11s baseball: Never-say-die South Shore rallies for 3-2 win vs. Massapequa to cop state title
All-Star tournaments are a battle of attrition. It’s a test of which team has the will to bounce back in the most pressure situations -- especially in a double-elimination format. South Shore Little League, winners of the District 24 and Section 3 South title earlier this summer, had run...

Adirondack Carvers Co-Op holds unique ribbon cutting at Grand Opening celebration
The Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce holds many ribbon cuttings throughout the year to welcome new businesses to the Lake George Area. These events almost always include an oversized pair of blue-handled scissors. That was not the case Friday afternoon at the Grand Opening of Adirondack Carvers Co-Op. The Adirondack Carvers Co-Op, at 1135 State Route 9 in Queensbury (next to Martha’s Dandee Creme) is a group of chainsaw artists, and only a wooden ribbon cut with a chainsaw would do.
US-Canada illegal border crossings surge – and those migrants are heading to NYC
CLINTON COUNTY, N.Y. - Mountain Mart, a gas station in the small city of Plattsburgh, New York, was once an unassuming pit stop before a trip to the nearby Adirondacks, or perhaps a stay near Lake Champlain. Thanks to its proximity to the northern border, it’s now better known as an outpost for migrants, the penultimate stop on their long journeys from home.

Popular Restaurant Chain with 30 New York Locations Raising Prices Again
While other restaurants are slashing menu prices to entice diners back through their doors, one well-known chain says their high prices are here to stay. With inflation squeezing more money out of American wallets, less people are going out to eat because of the high menu prices. One example is the fast good industry, which increased prices by 20% since 2019.
Foreigner keyboardist Michael Bluestein talks career, upcoming SPAC show
As a self-described “kid of the late ‘70s,” Michael Bluestein grew up on the music of Foreigner. That made it somewhat surreal when, in 2008 — after two decades as a working musician who had toured with some of the biggest names in pop and rock music — he got the job as the keyboardist for one of the biggest-selling bands of all-time.
