Thunderstorms likely for Killeen area as temperature cools down
Thunderstorms are likely across Central Texas and the Killeen-Fort Cavazos area in the days ahead. Alongside the storms comes a possibility of flooding and expected cooler temperatures not eclipsing 90 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Area children have whirling good time at Family Fun Fest
Hundreds of children and their families attended the Family Fun Fest held at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center. The fest took place both indoors and outdoors as people were free to interact in the many different activities. The Friday night event included card games, board games, musical chairs, bouncy houses, relay races, a family tug of war, a video game competition, a hula hoop contest and a Tik Tok dance competition.

Storms cover Central Texas with rain, cooler temperatures
Rain inundated Central Texas on Monday with at least 0.83 inches recorded at the Draughon-Miller Central Texas Regional Airport in Temple. A National Weather Service-issued hazardous weather outlook remains in effect for much of North and Central Texas, as rainfall will continue to accumulate in counties — including Bell, Coryell, Falls, Lampasas and McLennan — over the next several days.
Ethan Sandell Memorial Tennis Tournament held July 13
On July 13, Gatesville Tennis hosted the annual Ethan Sandell Memorial Open Tennis Tournament. There were representatives from Brownwood, Waco, China Spring, Crawford, Whitney, Shoemaker, and many from Gatesville. Gatesville had entries from the following graduating classes: 2012, 2021, 2022, 2023 as well as two eighth grade girls playing doubles. Temple police identify pedestrian killed in fatal accident
TEMPLE, Texas — A traffic accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian has left one person dead, according to the Temple Police Department. The incident occurred around 10:04 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, at the intersection of 31st Street and Scott Boulevard. The preliminary investigation reveals that an SUV struck the pedestrian while turning at a signal light. The vehicle and driver remained on the scene for the duration of the investigation.
