Ethan Sandell Memorial Tennis Tournament held July 13
On July 13, Gatesville Tennis hosted the annual Ethan Sandell Memorial Open Tennis Tournament. There were representatives from Brownwood, Waco, China Spring, Crawford, Whitney, Shoemaker, and many from Gatesville. Gatesville had entries from the following graduating classes: 2012, 2021, 2022, 2023 as well as two eighth grade girls playing doubles. The tournament was in the finals when rain canceled further play. The results are as follows:

Temple police identify pedestrian killed in fatal accident
TEMPLE, Texas — A traffic accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian has left one person dead, according to the Temple Police Department. The incident occurred around 10:04 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, at the intersection of 31st Street and Scott Boulevard. The preliminary investigation reveals that an SUV struck the pedestrian while turning at a signal light. The vehicle and driver remained on the scene for the duration of the investigation.
