This announcement comes after WVU President E. Gordon Gee announced his intent to retire after his contract ends on June 30, 2025.

In order to find a new president, the Vice President of the Board of Governors, Dr. Patrice Harris has announced a 21-member Presidential Search Committee.

The committee consists of representatives from WVU faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the Board of Governors, as well as others in the WVU community. There are even a few members of this committee with ties to southern West Virginia such as Dr. Harris herself, Bray Cary, and West Virginia University Institute of Technology President, T. Ramon Stuart.

The search committee will help set the Board of Governors up to make the final decision on who the next president will be.

This committee will also be holding listening sessions throughout the summer to get public recommendations for their search.

The committee is aiming to officially have the position listed starting in mid-September.
