Man’s body recovered from Summersville Lake

SUMMERSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A boater discovered a missing man’s body at Summersville Lake .

On the evening of Monday, July 15, 2024, Trooper L. L. Cox was informed about a missing person, 44-year-old Scott David Saylor from Morgantown, WV.

According to his family, Saylor had mentioned he was going swimming but hadn’t heard from him since the previous day. His cell phone’s ping revealed his last location at the beach area of Summersville Lake.

Authorities found Saylor’s belongings under a picnic table at the beach. Despite an extensive search by law enforcement and rescue teams, Saylor couldn’t be located and was reported missing.

On July 19, 2024, a boater discovered Saylor’s body in the water close to the area where he went missing. Trooper L.L. Cox, along with the Nicholas County Medical Examiner and other responders, recovered the body.

Saylor’s body is scheduled to undergo a complete autopsy at The State Medical Examiner’s office.

No evidence of foul play has been found at this stage of the investigation, but it remains active and ongoing.
