    WVU BOG elects new officers

    MORGANTOWN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia University (WVU) Board of Governors has elected its officers for the 2024-25 term.

    Leading the board will be Richard “Rick” Pill as chair, Dr. Patrice Harris as vice chair, and Robert “Bob” Reynolds as secretary.

    A Morgantown native, Rick Pill is a founding member of the law firm Pill & Pill, PLLC, based in Martinsburg.

    An alumnus of WVU, Pill holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a law degree from the University. His legal practice focuses on commercial and residential real estate transactions.

    Pill’s extensive involvement with WVU includes past roles on the Alumni Association Board of Directors and the WVU Hospital System Board of Directors.

    He is also a founding member of the West Virginia Real Estate Lawyers Association and a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. In 2021, he established the Richard and Thelma Pill Family Law Scholarship for WVU College of Law students.

    Pill was named an Outstanding Alumnus in 2005 and inducted into the WVU Greek Alumni Hall of Fame in 2023.

    Dr. Patrice Harris, a Bluefield native, is the co-founder and CEO of eMed, a digital health technology company in Miami.

    She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in counseling psychology, and a medical degree from WVU. Harris completed her psychiatry residency and fellowships at Emory University School of Medicine.

    Harris has served in various roles, including as the 174th president of the American Medical Association.

    Her contributions to WVU include serving on the Foundation Board of Directors and being inducted into the WVU Academy of Distinguished Alumni in 2007.

    She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and was inducted into the WVU Greek Alumni Hall of Fame in 2023.

    Bob Reynolds, from Clarksburg, is the chairman of Great-West Lifeco U.S. and has held significant roles in the financial industry, including president and CEO of Putnam Investments and vice chair and CEO of Fidelity Investments.

    Reynolds earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance from WVU and received an honorary doctorate in business administration in 2007.

    Reynolds and his wife, Laura, are the namesakes of Reynolds Hall, a key learning and research complex at WVU, which opened in 2022.

    His contributions to the University earned him a place in the WVU Academy of Distinguished Alumni in 2007 and the Chambers College Business Hall of Fame in 2010.

    The WVU Board of Governors will hold its next regular session on September 20. The board governs WVU, WVU Institute of Technology, and WVU Potomac State College.
