Starting this weekend, the world will have its eyes on Paris as 11,231 athletes compete in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.

Of those 11,231 competitors, eight have ties to West Virginia University as current or former athletes or staff members.

Here is a breakdown of each athlete and how you can watch these Mountaineers go for gold.

Kadeisha Buchanan and Ashley Lawrence, Canada women’s soccer

In their third Olympics appearance, Buchanan and Lawrence will look to repeat as gold medalists.

The former Mountaineers were in the starting 11 in Canada’s gold medal match against Sweden in the Tokyo Olympic Games three years ago and remained there for the squad’s two friendlies against Mexico last month.

Canada opens up play on Thursday against New Zealand. Pool play continues through July 31 with the knockout stage beginning on Aug. 3. The gold medal match will be played on Aug. 11 at 9:30 a.m. ET on NBC.

The full Canadian women’s national soccer team schedule at the Olympics is below.

    Mary Tucker, USA shooting

After winning an individual national championship in smallbore in Morgantown, Tucker is looking to add more hardware to her collection.

As a rising junior at Kentucky, Tucker took silver in air rifle. This summer, the Sarasota, Florida native has qualified in both air rifle and smallbore (listed as 50m Rifle 3 Positions by the Olympic Committee).

Tucker’s Olympic schedule is listed below.

Earlier this week, Ejiofor became only the second former Mountaineer to be listed on a women’s basketball Olympic roster and the first to represent Nigeria.

Since leaving Morgantown in 2022, Ejiofor has played professionally in France and Spain.

Earlier this month, Pickrem was announced as an assistant coach to new WVU swimming and diving head coach Brent MacDonald’s staff.

Pickrem is entering her third Summer Olympics for Canada, competing in the 200-meter individual medley — of which she was a finalist in the 2020 Tokyo games — and the 200-meter breaststroke.

Pickrem’s Olympic Games schedule is listed below.

Ceili McCabe, Canada athletics and Amy Cashin, Australia athletics

Former Mountaineers McCabe and Cashin will both be competing in the Women’s 3000-meter steeplechase.

This will be Cashin’s second Summer Olympics, finishing with a 9:34.67 time at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

McCabe’s and Cashin’s schedule is listed below.

    Ivan Puskovitch, USA swimming

Puskovitch is making history this summer in Paris.

The native of West Chester, Pennsylvania, is the first WVU men’s swimmer to compete in the Summer Olympics. Puskovitch is also the fifth male in Team USA history to qualify for the Olympics in open water swimming.

Puskovitch will compete in the 10km marathon swimming event in the Seine River in Paris after his 14th place finish in the same event at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Qatar. His event schedule is listed below.
