MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — What qualities would you like to see in West Virginia University’s next president? Let the university know by filling out a new survey that is meant to help with the ongoing search.

Current President Gordon Gee is set to retire in June 2025 , and university officials have been searching for the next WVU president since March . It had its first Presidential Search Committee earlier this month and its first “Listening Session” with Faculty Senate leadership, according to a press release from Wednesday, and is now asking for more input.

For members of the campus community who want to give their opinions on who should be the next president, there is now a four-question survey available online. It asks the following questions:

    1. What do you see as key attractions for this leadership opportunity? What makes you proud to be a part of the WVU community and excited about the future?
    2. What are the skill sets, experiences, qualifications, credentials, and personal attributes needed in the next President?
    3. What are the key opportunities and challenges facing West Virginia University? How should the new President seek to capitalize on or address them?
    4. What is your primary affiliation with West Virginia University?

Outside the survey, additional questions or suggestions can be send to WVUPresident@wittkieffer.com .

4-week road closure starts in Monongalia County

Additional Listening Sessions as well as “multiple opportunities for faculty, staff, students and alumni to participate” will be offered this fall, the release said. Additional information about the search is available on the presidential search web page .

You can read the full letter to the campus community from Dr. Patrice Harris, Chair of the Presidential Search Committee and Vice-Chair of the WVU Board of Governors, online here .
