Morgantown brewery reopening under new name

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — The now-closed Morgantown Brewing Company will be reopening under a new name and with different management, according to social media posts from the business and comments given to 12 News by the owners.

The restaurant and bar, now known as “ The Brew Pub ” is already holding its soft opening this week and has changed in preparation for its return, including the addition of table service and a copper bar top made entirely out of pennies .

Owners Katie and Art Gallagher originally opened the Morgantown Brewing Company in 2009 and operated the brewery until 2018. Katie Gallagher also told 12 News that they have not ruled out using previous Morgantown Brewing Company recipes, so fans of previous MBC beers may still have a chance to see them return.

The restaurant has not yet received its federal brewing license, but the Gallaghers expect to resume brewing again this fall. In the meantime, The Brew Pub already has cocktails, local and domestic beer, and a full food menu that can be viewed online .

Morgantown craft beer lovers have have a lot of other things to look forward to in the coming months as well.

In addition to The Brew Pub, Short Story Brewing will be launching a new location near the Morgantown-Westover Bridge, with plans to open in August. Mountain State Brewing Company has similar plans to expand and will be opening a second location in the old Texas Roadhouse on Monongahela Boulevard, directly across from the brand new Steak ‘n Shake that opened on Monday .
