Manhattan Man Killed in Collision on U.S. 36 Highway
A Manhattan man lost his life in a two-vehicle crash in Washington County on an early Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred when 46-year-old Brian Dowling, driving an eastbound pickup truck on U.S. 36 Highway, attempted to pass another vehicle and collided with an oncoming semi, about five miles east of Cuba.

Carol Worley, a golfer at the Clay Center Country Club, celebrated a significant milestone last Sunday by achieving her second hole-in-one. The impressive feat occurred during a Sunday scramble (a mixed event involving both men and women). On the second hole, spanning approximately 127 yards, Worley used her 5-wood to sink the ball, much to the delight of her fellow golfers.
Blue green algae warning is in effect for the Gathering Pond
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has placed the Gathering Pond at Milford Lake under a blue green algae warning. According to the Milford Lake Corps of Engineers that means water is unsafe for humans and animals, visitors should avoid all contact with the water, DO NOT let pets eat dried algae or drink contaminated water and if fish are caught, clean well with potable water and eat fillets only.

Man arrested in connection to aggravated burglary, stalking incident in southwest Topeka
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A Topeka man was arrested in connection to an aggravated burglary and stalking incident in southwest Topeka, Kan. According to the Topeka Police Department officials, officers responded to a domestic disturbance just after 11:30 p.m. on Monday, July 15 in the 3100 block of SW 10th Ave. in Topeka. Upon arrival, it was reported that the individual was identified as Jermaine Poree, 38, of Topeka, and was in the area of a residence where he was reportedly not allowed. Poree fled the scene before the officers arrived.
