Tropical Storm Beryl wreaked havoc on 7/10 – 7/11 to much of Essex County. Living on the E-Town end of the Lincoln Pond Road, I know this all too well. The brook running down Garandah Road jumped its banks, taking out huge swaths of the Lincoln Pond Road, and filled my front yard like a huge, swollen creek. The water blew out my basement windows and poured in with such force that it tipped my hot water heater over, resulting in a ruptured water pipe. By 5 a.m. on 7/11, I had five feet of water in the basement and rising.

Babies R Us is making a comeback later this year as 25 Kohl's locations throughout New York will house shops filled with baby essentials. Kohl's announced a partnership with WHP Global, the parent company of Babies R Us, in March to bring "baby gear, furniture, activity and more" to its stores by the fall of 2024.

Vermont State Police ID man shot by troopers during confrontation Sunday night
Vermont State Police say a man was shot during a confrontation with state troopers in the town of Burke on Sunday night. The shooting occurred shortly after 10 p.m. near the intersection of Route 114 and Pinkham Road, state police said. The man was taken to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury for treatment of his injuries and later transferred to Dartmouth Hitchock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
