Human remains discovered in Tennessee more than 20 years ago have been identified
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Human remains discovered more than two decades ago near an interstate in Knoxville, Tennessee, have been identified. The Knox County government announced on social media Monday that the person was identified by genetic testing as Brian A. Sanderson. Knox County Regional Forensic Center administrator Chris Thomas says Sanderson was 54 years old when he died and was originally from Vermont. His remains were first discovered by a passerby on Nov. 30, 2003, near an Interstate-275 entrance ramp. The regional forensic center took over the case in 2017, eventually hiring the private company Othram, with the help of a federal grant. The company identified Sanderson. The county provided no further information about him.
