Hancock Spoils Claiborne’s Volleyball Season Opener
August 19- Claiborne High School volleyball hosted Hancock for their season opening match. Claiborne’s junior varsity team was defeated by the Lady Indians in two straight sets, and the varsity team lost in five sets. CHS won the opening set 25-14 but lost set two, 25-23. The Lady Bulldogs rallied to win the third set, 25-23 but lost the fourth set 25-22 setting up a fifth and deciding set. The Lady Indians made a run that put CHS behind and the Lady Bulldogs did not answer with one of their own falling 15-7 and losing three sets to two. The Lady Bulldogs showed great improvement over last year’s team but wasted a great opportunity when they were up two sets to one: however, this team has learned how to compete and will definitely be a surprise to most teams.

Tennessee will host Florida at Neyland Stadium on Oct. 12. Tennessee announced the Vols will Checker Neyland for the Southeastern Conference contest. The matchup will also be the Vols’ first SEC home game for the 2024 campaign. Tennessee will open its season on Aug. 31 versus Chattanooga at Neyland Stadium (12:45 p.m. EDT, SEC Network). Tennessee’s home schedule in 2024 for SEC games are against Florida, Alabama, Kentucky and Mississippi State. The Vols’ road SEC schedule features contests at Oklahoma, Arkansas, Georgia and Vanderbilt.
