, , , , On Monday, July 1st, Morris County celebrated Jack Martin for his 20th year as sheriff– the longest- sitting sheriff of the county thus far. Sheriff Martin was born in Naples, graduated from Paul Pewitt high School, and has lived in Morris County all his life. He started work at the Naples Police Department in 1984 as a reserve. Morris County Collaborative creating young entrepreneurs
, , , The Morris County Collaborative has been helping towns across the county for a number of years. Now, they’re helping children in the community become young business leaders. Beverly Austin, a volunteer who does marketing for the MCC, said, “We build healthier communities and increase people’s well-being. That’s our main goal. I’ve always wanted to work with the youth and I was inspired to do this.” Morris County Collaborative is a non-profit and partners with dozens of businesses in Daingerfield, Lone Star, Omaha, and Naples to provide people with whatever they might need help with. With their new Biz Kids program, Austin said she wants to help prepare kids for the future from a young age. “It teaches kids the basic principle of business and money,” Austin said. “How to save money and how to spend it smartly. These skills can transfer to other skills, jobs, careers over a lifetime. Teaching young entrepreneurs the basics of business ownership is not only valuable, but also inspiring.”
