    Morrison County Board of Commissioners Briefs

    In other business Tuesday, March 26, the Morrison County Board of Commissioners:

    • Approved the memorandum of agreement to collectively implement, as local government units, the Mississippi River-Brainerd Comprehensive Watershed Management Plan per the provision of the plan;

    • Approved the Mudfest large assembly application, allowing the event to take place May 24 through May 27 in Hillman;

    • Approved the Morrison County Ducks Unlimited to hold a raffle on April 28 at Rice Creek Hunt Club;

    • Approved a seasonal Food, Pool and Lodging (FPL) license renewal for Shamineau Acres Resort and a new FPL license for Andesite LLC;

    • Approved a tobacco license renewal for The Cave Bar and Grill;

    • Approved the 2024 Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) grant funding awards to the local lake associations and lake improvement districts, as discussed at the March 19 planning session and recommended by the AIS committee;

    • Approved updates to the Morrison County strategic plan;

    • Approved a resolution to submit a grant proposal of up to $300,000 to the Minnesota Information Technology Services Office of Geospatial Information (MnGEO) for funds to update the Public Land Survey System land corners in Morrison County;

    • Approved the rezoning of property from rural residential to agriculture for the purpose of aquaculture and an event venue for Charles & Peggy Seelen;

    • Accepted the resignation of Dave Stish as a member of the Morrison County planning commission board of adjustment and appointed George Sandy to fill Stish’s position for the remainder of his term;

    • Approved a resolution to award $1.178 million to Marvin Tretter Inc. for pipe culvert replacements on County Road 37 and County Roads 225 and 237. Marvin Tretter Inc. had the lowest of two bids for the project, the other being $1.241 million from Houle Excavating LLC, and was 23.2% lower than the cost estimate of $1.534 million, which Public Works Directory Tony Hennen attributed to lowering prices of pipes;

    • Rescinded Resolution 2023-066, which had approved Morrison County as a sponsor for the Morrison County Recreational Trails Association (MCRTA) for fiscal year 2024 in coordination with the County and Club trail agreement; and

    • Approved a similar resolution to Resolution 2023-066, approving Morrison County as a sponsor for the MCRTA for fiscal year 2024 through fiscal year 2025 in coordination with the County and Club trail agreement.

    The next Morrison County Board of Commissioners meeting is a planning session at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, in the Board Room at the Morrison County Government Center.
