    Softball Recaps May 3-8

    Below are summaries of local softball games between May . They were compiled by Sports Editor Nick Tabatt.

    Pierz win last three games with large deficits

    The Pierz Pioneers softball team travel to take on Mora Wednesday, May 8. after it was rescheduled from Tuesday, May 7. The Pioneers won the game 13-0.

    Britney Schommer pitched in all five innings played, throwing six strikeouts. At the plate, she also was 2-4 with three runs, one stolen base and had two runs batted in. Natalie Knutson 3-3, with two home runs and five runs batted in. The Pioneers had 10 hits and and one error while Mora had two hits and two errors.

    The Pioneers hosted Milaca in a double header Friday, May 3. The Pioneers won the first game 12-3. Schommer threw four strikeouts and allowed two to walk. Maddie Gaffke was 3-4 at the plate, with two home runs and four runs batted in. Liz Gross was 3-4, along with three runs and three stolen bases.

    The Pioneers won the second game in the double header, 15-4. Erin Thesing threw two strikeouts on the mound. At the plate Knutson hit a three-run home run and had four runs batted in. Alyssa Sadlovsky earned two runs and had two runs batted in.

    Royals lose three home games

    The Royalton Royals softball team hosted Kimball Monday, May 6. The Royals struggled as they fell 13-0. Milaca had 18 hits. while the Royals had two. Mia Zimny threw three strikeouts on the mound, while Jaden Bailey Alise Schoenrock each threw one.

    The Royals also hosted in a double Header Paynesville Area Friday, May 3, losing both games. The The Royals lost the first the first game 12-5. Emily Blockl and Abby Nelson had two bases on balls. Maddison Albright and The Royals lost the second game 11-5, with Libby Yourczek leading the team with two runs batted in.

    Bulldogs win triangular at Benson

    The Swanville Bulldogs traveled to Benson where they competed in a triangular competition Friday, May 3. They beat Benson in the first game 2-1. Kennedee Chuba threw four strike outs on the mound and Abby Morris was 1-2 at the plate, with one run batted in.

    The Bulldogs also won the second game against Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley 5-4. Allie Bernadot threw six strikeouts on the mound. Addison Hudalla was 2-3 at the plate with two runs and three runns batted in.

    The Bulldogs also traveled to take on Browerville Tuesday, May 7. They lost 9-8. This time, Chuba threw seven strikeouts in the game. ,Hudalla, Chuba, Reese Jackson and Sam Sobiech were all 2-4 and each had one run batted in.

    Cardinals upset Ogilvie

    The Upsala Cardinals hosted Ogilvie Monday, May 6 , winning 11-1 and Isabelle Leners having a no-hitter. Leners threw eight strikeouts and no errors. Brenna Graves led the team at the plate with two hits, two runs and one run batted in. Lydia Kokett also had two runs and two hits.
