    Bulldogs beat Frazee in first Section 6A game

    The Swanville Bulldogs started the postseason strong, beating Frazee in its first Section 6A game at home, Monday, May 20. The Bulldogs won 3-1.

    Winning pitcher Kennedee Chuba threw four strikeouts in the game and reached her 100th strikeout of the season. She allowed one walk and one error.

    Reese Jackson scored the team’s first run in the bottom of the first inning, on a single hit from Chuba. Ellie Johnson and Addison Hudalla scored two runs in the third inning. Frazee’s only score in the game was a solo home run from the team’s Ashley Malikowski. Bulldogs Head Coach Mike Chuba said he didn’t know what to expect from their opponent, but the team reacted well with good pitching and crucial hitting.

    “I told the girls ‘little things are going to win the game. You got to have some timely hits, you got to play some good defense and smart base running. That’s the key to the game,’” said Chuba

    The Bulldogs’ hard hitters included Kennadee Chuba going 2-3 at the plate, with a double and two RBIs Delaney Chuba was also 2-3 and stole two bases.

    The Bulldogs had its last two regular season games at home Thursday, May 16, playing against Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale and Wadena-Deer Creek. They beat Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale 8-6.

    Kennedee Chuba threw five strikeouts and allowed one walk. Hudalla hit a home run and had one run batted in. Other hitters with runs batted in were Sam Sobiech, Jackson and Kennedee Chuba.

    The Bulldogs struggled in the second game against Wadena-Deer Creek, losing 20-5. Allie Bernadot pitched for over three-plus innings, throwing seven strikeouts. Ali Barthel pitched one inning with one strikeout.

    The Bulldogs traveled to Browerville to play the next round of sections in a doubleheader Thursday, May 23. The winner of the doubleheader will advance to the semifinals game in Morris Tuesday, May 28
