Superintendent George Weber informed the Pierz School Board, Wednesday, July 31 that the District is moving forward with its plan to transform one of its 4-year-old preschool program classrooms into a full-time, five days per week model.

“This plan will then allow those parents to access a fulltime preschool service and also then support their daycare needs for that child,” he said.

Weber said the cost for an entire year at five days per week is $4,000.

“At this point, we have 13 4-year-old children in that class. We have a few children who are age 3, who we provide special education services for that we will also add into that classroom a couple of days per week,” he said.

The other classroom will have a Monday and Wednesday class which currently has 12 students. The Tuesday and Thursday class for that same classroom has 14 students as of now. The cost for that program is $1,600, Weber said.

The reason for the change is to better serve the needs of parents and children who would benefit with having a five-day program.
