    The following summaries are local sporting events between Sept. 23 and Sept. 24, compiled by Nick Tabatt.

    Royals lose to Foley

    The Royalton Royals volleyball team traveled to play against Foley Monday, Sept. 23. The Royals came up short, losing 2-3 (18-25, 23-25, 25-16, 25-19, 12-15). Individual results were not made to the Record by Press Time.

    Pioneers struggle

    against Pequot Lakes

    The Pierz Pioneers volleyball team traveled to Pequot Lakes Tuesday, Sept. 24, losing 0-3 (17-25, 12-25, 20-25). The Pioneers’ Mataya Pohlkamp collected 11 kills, followed by Reagan Winscher with four kills and Natalie Knutson with three.

    Sophie Leidenfrost went 12 for 12 in serving, had three aces and 22 digs.

    Upsala falls to Braham

    The Upsala Cardinals had a five-set game against Braham Tuesday, Sept. 24, falling short 2-3 (25-21, 25-22, 14-25, 21-25, 9-25).

    The Cardinals’ Samantha Pilarski went 16 for 16 in serving, had 20 digs and 11 kills. Dakota Soltis went 28 for 30 in serving, along with two aces and 28 digs. Zoey Leners had 18 kills.

    Flyers CC girls

    place second in Paynesville

    The Little Falls Flyers cross country boys and girls competed at the Paynesville/Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa (BBE) Invitational Tuesday, Sept. 24. The Flyers varsity girls took second place out of 11 teams and the varsity boys took ninth.

    The top runners for the girls team includes Malin Youngberg finishing in third place with a time of 21-25.8. Leah Couture followed close behind in fifth place (21:40.3, In the varsity boys race, Blake Nolan led the way, placing 18th (19:14.3) and Kobi Cameron took 27th (20:24.9).
