Fire crews retrieve 2 pets, put out Marion County garage fire
MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A home garage caught on fire in Ocala early Tuesday morning, but fire crews were able to keep it from moving into the house. At 1:54 a.m., Marion County Fire Rescue arrived at the home on 25 Dogwood Drive Course, in a neighborhood near SE 58th Avenue and SE Maricamp Road, to find smoke filling the home’s garage. Firefighters from Rolling Greens station, Belleview station, and Anthony station were called in to assist.
Florida Horseman Milton S. Hendry Passes at 82
OCALA, Fla. —Long-time Florida horseman Milton S. Hendry passed away in Crystal River, Florida, on Thursday, June 27. He was 82. The native of Bay Springs, Mississippi, loved horses all of his life and first became professionally involved with show horses, reining horses and barrel racing. He later started race riding at unsanctioned meets in the south and midwest before receiving his jockey license to ride Quarter Horses in Louisiana in 1972. Before retiring from riding in 1986, he was a leading Quarter Horse jockey at Commonwealth Race Course in Louisville, Kentucky and Pompano Park Race Course in Pompano, Florida.
