Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Crimes Against Minors in Chatham Township

Nafis H. Wiggins Sentenced to 10 Years, Ordered to Register Under Megan's Law

CHATHAM TWP, N.J. - Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Chatham Township Police Chief Thomas Miller have announced the sentencing of Nafis H. Wiggins, 26, of Newark, following his December 2023 arrest in Chatham Township.

On August 1, 2024, Judge Claudia Jones sentenced Wiggins to an aggregate of 10 years in New Jersey State Prison. He will also be required to register under Megan’s Law and will be under Parole Supervision for Life.

Wiggins had previously pled guilty on March 1, 2024, to two counts of second-degree Luring and one count of third-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) with Intent to Distribute.

The charges stem from incidents occurring between August 1 and September 28, 2023, during which Wiggins, then 25, provided narcotics to two minors, ages 14 and 15, in exchange for sexual favors. Wiggins contacted the victims via text messages, lured them, and met them at various locations in Chatham Township and Chatham Borough. He transported them to secluded areas to engage in drug use and sexual activities.

Wiggins was arrested on December 19, 2023, at Cougar Field in Chatham Township, where he was found in possession of CDS. Following his arrest, Wiggins was detained at the Morris County Correctional Facility under the Criminal Justice Reform Act.

Prosecutor Carroll expressed gratitude to the Chatham Township Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office’s Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit for their work in the investigation and successful prosecution of the case.
