Multiple roadworks on key routes including I-287, NJ 24, I-80, US 46, NJ 23, and more disrupt traffic flow; local commuters advised on alternate paths and timings.

Morristown, NJ — Morris County drivers face a challenging navigation landscape today due to widespread construction activities impacting several major roadways. Key arteries such as I-287, I-80, and US 46 are experiencing partial lane closures, significantly affecting travel plans and daily commutes.

Starting this morning, I-287 northbound near exit 36 (CR 510/Morris Ave in Morristown) has the right lane closed until 3:00 PM. Similarly, construction activities on I-80 westbound near Exit 47A (I-280 in Montville Township) are restricting traffic to fewer lanes with the right lane closure extending until 2:00 PM. NJ 23 southbound south of Maple Lake Rd in Butler also sees reduced lanes, with the left lane and shoulder barricaded until 3:30 PM.

For those traveling through Florham Park and Morris Township, NJ 24 westbound is undergoing intermittent full lane closures from east of Exit 2 (CR 510/Columbia Turnpike) to east of Exit 1 (CR 511/Whippany Rd) until 3:00 PM. Moreover, NJ 23 will have lane restrictions from Maple Lake Rd in Butler to north of Paterson Hamburg Turnpike in West Milford Township, with one right lane closed during the same period.

Additional constructions on US 46 in Parsippany-Troy Hills Township and Mount Olive Township are seeing one right lane and shoulder closures, which will continue until 3:00 PM and 2:00 PM respectively. The heavy concentration of construction efforts is also evident in Denville Township on US 46, where the right shoulder will remain closed until 3:00 PM.

Local authorities advise commuters to seek alternative routes or adjust travel times when possible to avoid delays. Real-time traffic updates can be accessed through local transportation apps and websites, providing commuters with the latest information on road conditions and expected congestion.

Residents and visitors are urged to plan their travel carefully and stay informed as the construction is part of broader efforts to enhance roadway safety and infrastructure within Morris County.
