State Patrol – Minnesota Man Killed While Walking on Busy Highway
Blaine, MN (KROC-AM News) - A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle early this morning in the Twin Cities. The State Patrol says the deadly incident occurred around 5:45 AM in Blaine. Few details have been released, but the preliminary report from the State Patrol indicates the victim was walking in the lanes of traffic on Highway 47 in the Anoka County city when he was hit by an SUV.

A new venue that aims to have the same atmosphere as a friendly neighborhood bar – but without the alcohol – opened recently at 24 7th St. W., in the Hamm building. Lucille’s Bottle Shop and Tasting Room offers non-alcoholic beers, wines, spirits and mocktails and events such as mixology, and wine and cheese nights. On Tuesday night during the Northfield City Council meeting, Councilor Davin Sokup made an impassioned plea to the rest of his colleagues and the city staff members in attendance. Looking at a preliminary tax levy increase of 15.8%, Sokup asked if there was anything in the budget that could wait until the tax base is, as he put it, “in better shape.” Sokup said the increase is too much for lower earning families and those on a fixed income, and he was looking for ways to mitigate the increase until Northfield’s commercial tax base has grown.
