Preschool Advantage Places 100 Children in Local Preschools for 2024-2025

Preschool Advantage, a nonprofit based in Morristown, has announced it will place 100 children in local preschools for the 2024-2025 school year across Morris and Somerset Counties.

“We’re thrilled to have helped so many children, as the need has never been greater,” said Nancy Bangiola, Executive Director of Preschool Advantage. A recent report from the ALICE program, a data initiative of the United Way of Northern New Jersey, reveals that many workers are financially worse off now compared to a decade ago, despite recent wage increases for low-wage jobs.

The nonprofit covers preschool tuition for children aged 3 to 4, allowing them to attend one of 28 high-quality preschools in the two counties. Research shows that attending preschool helps close the achievement gap between children from different backgrounds, giving all children a better start in kindergarten.

Demographics for the 2024-2025 Year:

• Two-Parent Households: 73%
• Families that Don’t Speak English at Home: 27%
• Location: 78% in Morris County, 13% in Somerset County, 9% in other counties
• Income Level: 83% of families earn at or below the level needed for basic needs in Morris and Somerset Counties
• Average Household Income: $63,201

Applications for the 2025-2026 school year will open on January 15, 2025. Parents and caregivers can apply at: www.preschooladvantage.org/apply-now. Applications received before March 1, 2025, will receive priority funding.

Preschool Advantage aims to level the playing field for families who cannot afford preschool by providing financial assistance. The organization relies on individual donors and grants from foundations and businesses. Since its founding in 1995, Preschool Advantage has funded over 1,600 preschool tuitions, helping many families access quality early education.
