Investigation underway after officer and suspect shot in Fort Collins
Authorities in Fort Collins say an investigation is underway after an officer and suspect were shot.According to a press release from the City of Fort Collins, officers responded to a rollover crash at Bryan Avenue and Mountain Avenue. The driver exited the vehicle with a firearm and exchanged gunfire with officers and ran toward Grand View Cemetery where more gunfire happened when officers followed the suspect. An armored rescue SWAT Unit vehicle arrived on the scene which help allow officers to safely approach the suspect who was injured and that's when officers rendered aid. The suspect was then taken into custody and taken to a hospital. The officers who was shot in the incident was also taken to a hospital where they are expected to recover. Additional information regarding the incident will come from the Larimer County Sheriff's Office.

Resident fatally shoots home intruder near University of Denver
A startled resident shot and killed a man who was intruding in their apartment early Sunday morning, according to the Denver Police Department. The shooting happened near the 2300 block of east Evans Avenue in south Denver, at the One Observatory Park apartment complex near the University of Denver. An initial call of a shooting came in around 1 a.m., according to a police department spokesperson. Police officials said a "surprised" resident shot the intruder inside their home. The man who intruded on the home was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. Police officials added the resident who shot the man is cooperating during the active investigation.
Dog rescued after spending two weeks in San Juan Mountains
A dog was rescued after spending two weeks alone in the San Juan Mountains near Silverton. According to an article from Fox 31 KDVR, the dog, Konnie, was traveling with its family from Arizona when she went missing on July 4. The family searched, but ultimately decided to return home. On Friday, Jimmy Keene, founder of San Juan Mountain Adventures, rescued the dog several miles from where she was last seen. Konnie's family is one their way to reunite with their pet. Denver Nuggets close Summer League with consecutive wins thanks to Trey Alexander's late takeover
It took some clutch offense from Trey Alexander for the Nuggets to avoid a collapse in their Summer League finale, a 91-82 win over the Pelicans on Saturday in Las Vegas. Denver saw an early 23-point lead dissolve in the final minutes. Then, Alexander scored or assisted 10 of Denver’s final 16 points. The rookie finished with 19 points, making 8 of his 10 shots from the field and all three of his 3-pointers. He added seven rebounds, three assists, one steal and a block in 29 minutes. The former Creighton standout averaged more than 17 points, five rebounds and two assists over five Summer League games.

Superior resident receives new flag in honor of military husband
Nearly three years after the Marshall Fire destroyed her home, one woman was able to reclaim something she’d lost. On Friday, longtime Superior resident Gladys Forshee received a new burial flag for her late husband, U.S. Army veteran Larry Forshee. Her original flag was lost in the fire, which destroyed more than 1,000 Superior and Louisville homes on Dec. 30, 2021, and caused more than $2 billion in damage.
