Bangor Professional Firefighters raise lifesaving funds for families living with muscular dystrophy
ORRINGTON, Maine (WABI) - The Bangor Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 772 spent Saturday giving back to those impacted by muscular dystrophy. The 6th annual Adam MacDonald Memorial MDA Open took place at Pine Hill Golf Course in Orrington. The four-person best-ball scramble is open to golfers of all skill levels.

Lewiston-based home repair program to help seniors stay in their homes will expand in Maine
The Lewiston Housing Authority will expand a home modification program for seniors with a $1.25 million award from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The program previously served older Mainers living in Androscoggin County but will eventually reach 150 additional homes in Cumberland, Franklin, Kennebec and Oxford Counties.

BCS Construction Making Headway, Staying Within Budget
On Tuesday, Sept. 3 students will return to the halls of Bristol Consolidated School for the second school year in a row with the building under construction and renovation. BCS Facilities Manager John Carroll said from the time the school broke ground on the project in June 2023 until students return on Tuesday, Sept. 3, about 90% of the school has been affected by renovation.
Hearty Roots hosts ‘First Fire’
On Thursday, Aug. 23, Hearty Roots (HR) hosted a gathering on its newly acquired Bremen property to honor the land, express gratitude and appreciation for their donors and supporters, and share the vision for uplifting youth through HR’s nature-based programming. The “First Fire” ceremony was HR’s take on a ribbon-cutting. HR asked guests to contribute one rock to the new fire pit, while Program Manager Josh Leatham demonstrated his fire-starting skills via bow drilling. Deputy Director Jess Donohoe gave ceremonial remarks to the approximately 50 attendees. Olive Pine, an adventure mentor in training, strummed guitar and sang.
