Junior Hawks finish inaugural baseball season 15-5
The Dalles Junior Baseball Association (TDJBA), also known as the “Junior Hawks”, finished its inaugural season with a 15-5 record in 2024. The youth baseball organization included players in second through sixth grade from The Dalles, Dufur and Sherman school districts. The team played games against teams from Pendleton, Hood River, White Salmon, Prineville and Tualatin.

Family of Tigard man killed in 2022 road-rage shooting sues convicted gunman
The family of a Tigard man killed in a 2022 road-rage shooting is suing the man convicted of his murder. Brandy Goldsbury is suing Justin McAnulty for killing Dennis Anderson, her partner of 18 years, in a road-rage encounter on a highway near the Oregon coast. Goldsbury is seeking $37.5 million, according to the lawsuit, which was filed July 9 in Multnomah County Circuit Court.
Power gets shut off in Huntington as Durkee Fire causes concern
ONTARIO, Ore. — People in Huntington, Oregon are without electricity as the Durkee Fire creeps closer to the city. Tuesday morning, the Idaho Power website said this was affecting about 540 customers. Since then, power has been restored to about 100 customers. As of Tuesday evening, crews are patrolling powerlines to make sure they're safe to turn back on.

Update from ODOT as of 7:17am- I-84 is now open in eastern Oregon. The Durkee Fire forced another closure late last night. Travelers should be prepared for more I-84 closures as this fire remains active. Travelers who need to move east or west through central and eastern Oregon should use U.S. 20. If you plan to travel across Oregon in the coming days, make sure you carefully plan your route by using TripCheck.com. Other eastern Oregon highways may be closed or impacted as well.
