MOSS POINT, Miss. (WKRG) — Investigators are still trying to figure out what led up to a fight that ended with dozens of shots fired and at least two people hurt in Moss Point, Mississippi. A news release from the Moss Point Police Department said officers responded to the report of a shooting before dawn on Thursday, July 11th near the intersection of Magnolia Street and Davis Avenue.

When they arrived they stopped several vehicles trying to drive away from the scene. At least two of the people who were stopped had gunshot wounds.

Investigators say two groups of teenage girls met for a fight in a church parking lot on Davis. The groups shot at each other and police recovered 41 spent shell casings. Police say additional search warrants on the vehicles resulted in the seizure of two guns and more ammunition.

Police say it appears none of the people involved are from Moss Point and charges are pending the results of their investigation.
