    Motley City Council Briefs

    On Monday, June 10, the Motley City Council:

    • Approved the Motley Fire Department to search for a new fire truck while simultaneously applying for a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant to help fund the purchase of the fire truck;

    • Approved the renewal of a contract to provide electric vehicle chargers without purchasing a warranty;

    • Approved the submission of a letter of commitment to apply for a grant that would help fund a solar panel project;

    • Allowed Police Chief Al Yoder and Clerk-Treasurer Tami Brotherton to contact the city attorney about options to take if former Police Chief Jason Borash continues to not give up access to the Motley Police Department Facebook page;

    • Approved Brotherton to attend the 2024 Clerks Academy on Thursday, Sept. 12 and Friday, Sept. 13 at a cost of $250;

    • Approved Brotherton to attend an upcoming region 3 meeting with other local city clerks on Thursday, July 18 at a cost of $30;

    • Approved paying Brotherton a stipend instead of providing health insurance, as Brotherton receives health insurance through her husband, Public Works Director Bruce Brotherton, who is also employed with the City of Motley; and

    • Approved a motion to order the Motley Community Events Organization to remove all items belonging to them from City Hall.

    The next meeting of the Motley City Council is at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 8, in the Council Chambers at City Hall. A work session may precede the meeting at 4:30 p.m.
