Motley City Council Briefs

On Monday, July 8, the Motley City Council:

• Adopted a newly revised floodplain ordinance based on the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources model floodplain ordinance, to satisfy current federal and state statutes. The ordinance was approved following a public hearing;

• Approved Resolution #2024-14, authorizing the commencement of the update to the City’s comprehensive plan. The plan was last updated on July 22, 2014 and the updated plan will serve as a strategic guide for the City’s future development, land use, infrastructure, transportation, housing and community facilities;

• Approved Resolution #2024-15, authorizing Sourcewell staff to collaborate with Region 5 on behalf of the City to update the 2024 comprehensive plan;

• Accepted a monetary donation to the Motley Fire Department; and

• Permitted Clerk-Treasurer Tami Brotherton to post notices of future public hearings in the Morrison County Record and Staples World without needing approval from the City Council.

The next meeting of the Motley City Council is at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
