Great to see. On the topic of unlikely vehicles, I used to autocross a stock 55 Chevy 4 Dr, 6 cyl, column shifted 3 spd and a 69 Dart 4 Dr, 273 V8, Torqueflight, manual strg/brakes. The Chevy competed in H-stock against VW Rabbits, Beetles (originals), Datsun 510 SWs and the ilk. The Dart competed in F-stock against Potiac Trans Ams, Z-28 Camaros, AMC AMXs, and the ilk. Obviously, neither was optimal material.
