When my mom was on hospice when she passed at home, so it was a very easy process for us since everything had been prearranged. I just picked up the phone and called the funeral home to let them know that my mom had passed and it had been confirmed by the hospice nurse, and they took care of everything from there. They no longer use hearses for the transportation of bodies, they hire a 3rd party that comes to pick up the deceased and take them to the funeral home in a customized van. It was a very easy process for us, and the team that came for her was very good with us at every step of the way with explaining what they were doing and why.

My husband was transported by EMTs. We live in a rural area. They asked my permission first. There was bad accident in next county and said it would be hours before transporting him. They did it wuite dignified and kept me away while they did all of it
