    A modern and timeless collectible.

In 2003, as part of their centennial celebration, Ford Motor Company unveiled a modern take on their legendary GT40, a car that had dominated endurance racing in the 1960s. While the original GT40 is remembered for its remarkable success on the track, it was also a pioneer as one of the first mid-engine street supercars, thanks to the requirement for a road-legal version in order to compete in races like Le Mans.

The 21st-century iteration of the GT was a blend of classic design and modern engineering. Retaining the iconic silhouette of its predecessor, albeit slightly taller, the new Ford GT was equipped with a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 engine producing a formidable 550 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. The car featured advanced materials and manufacturing techniques, including a superplastic frame, aluminum body panels, and a magnesium center console, making it a true modern marvel.

In 2006, Ford paid homage to the GT40's racing legacy with a special edition known as the Ford GT Heritage Edition. This model was inspired by the legendary GT40 chassis #1075, affectionately known as "Old Lady," which made history by winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice in consecutive years (1968 and 1969). Painted in the iconic Gulf Oil livery of robin's egg blue with orange stripes, this tribute car was a nod to one of the most famous endurance racing cars of all time.

The 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition stands as a testament to Ford's rich racing history, blending vintage styling with modern performance. With less than 400 miles on the odometer, this particular example remains in pristine condition, featuring its original 5.4-liter V8 engine, a 6-speed manual transmission, and all the amenities of a modern supercar, including air conditioning, power brakes, steering, windows, and locks. The combination of its limited production, historical significance, and stunning design makes the Ford GT Heritage Edition a highly sought-after collectible among automotive enthusiasts.
