An extraordinary piece of cinematic and automotive history is set to be auctioned—none other than the 1958 Bentley S1 Continental Saloon once owned by the legendary film director Alfred Hitchcock. This rare vehicle, with its signature "Flying Spur" coachwork by H.J. Mulliner, represents the epitome of luxury and craftsmanship in its era. It’s one of just 16 examples produced in left-hand-drive configuration, making it an even more coveted collector’s item.

Originally delivered to Los Angeles, California, Hitchcock’s Bentley boasts a 4.9-liter inline-six engine paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. The car has undergone an extensive refurbishment at D&D Classic Automobile Restoration, where it was repainted in a rich dark green with beige pinstriping, complementing its luxurious beige leather interior with brown piping. The cabin is adorned with beautiful burl wood trim, Wilton wool carpets, and modern additions like air conditioning, a cassette stereo, and a JVC CD changer, making this classic car both elegant and functional for today’s standards.

The Bentley S1 Continental was initially introduced in 1955, with bodywork supplied by coachbuilders. Hitchcock’s specific model, chassis BC34LEL, was delivered to H.J. Mulliner for the installation of the now-iconic "Flying Spur" six-light saloon body. The car’s exterior is accented by driving lights, chrome bumpers, and 15-inch steel wheels with color-keyed hubcaps. The addition of power steering and servo-assisted drum brakes ensures smooth handling, even for a car of this vintage.

The interior exudes luxury, with beige leather seats, a book-matched burl wood dashboard, and detailed wood trim extending to the doors and window frames. Modern updates include a front center armrest, tinted acrylic sun visors, and an AM/FM/cassette head unit. The Smiths instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer and a five-digit odometer that shows 40,000 miles.

This Bentley has passed through a select number of owners since Hitchcock, including Dr. Gail Reingold, who initiated its restoration. Now in the hands of a new owner, the vehicle comes with extensive historical documentation, including handwritten notes listing Alfred Hitchcock as the original customer. Refurbishment records, tools, and a collection of memorabilia, including DVDs related to the vehicle's history, will accompany the car.
