According to a study published last year by the Brennan Center for Justice, one-third of local election workers have experienced threats, harassment, or abuse. In addition, more than half of election workers say they are “somewhat” to “very concerned” about being intimidated on the job.

On Thursday morning, July 18, 2024, at 6:41 AM, a law enforcement officer with the Pittsburg Police Department observed a vehicle that was not displaying any state issued license plates turn onto Amber Drive. The Officer turned his patrol vehicle around to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle and the vehicle pulled into the driveway of 1011 Amber Drive. The driver exited the vehicle and quickly entered the residence and closed the door behind him. Further investigation into the vehicle revealed it had been reported stolen out of Joplin, Missouri.
