TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A federal judge ruled in favor of a former Kansas Highway Patrol major seeking reinstatement. Mark Bruce sued Gov. Laura Kelly and Kansas Highway Patrol leadership after he claims he was forced to resign in 2019 over allegations he didn’t address misconduct within the agency. Bruce was accused of covering up an interoffice affair and a potential domestic abuse case of another officer.

A global technology outage has reached Emporia. Shortly before 8 am, USD 253 Emporia announced PowerSchool went unavailable as part of the outage.
