The 16-1 Mound Westonka High School Boys tennis team qualified for the State Tournament on Monday May 20.

They started the day with a 6-1 win over the Litchfield Dragons in the section semi finals and ended the day with a 6-1 win over the Southwest Christian Stars in the section finals. This earned them a place at the team Class A State Tournament on June 4 and 5.

Every team member contributed in a huge way. Two of the three doubles teams each had a win on the day (1st doubles: Sam Gaylord and Blake Reinbold, 2nd doubles: Clark Hanson and Robbie Davis) while 3rd doubles, Ian Santoski and Will Salvati, went 2-0. The four singles players: Carter Reinbold at one singles (ranked 4th in State), Charlie Paul at 2nd singles (ranked 6th in state) , Adam Kahmeyer (who remains undefeated for the season) at 3rd singles, and Johnny Range at #4 singles all went 2-0 on the day.

Coach Rob Paul said, “I am super proud of the boys. They pulled together as a team, were focused and played disciplined tennis. This is a great way for these seniors to wrap up their MWHS tennis career and coach Reinbold and I couldn’t be happier for these boys.”

Individual section play begins Wednesday, May 22 where the team hopes to have more great play.
