    MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. (WTRF) –

Cooling centers are still up and running in many communities in the Ohio Valley to help people get out of the oppressive heat.

And a brand new one has just opened in Moundsville.

The Messiah Lutheran Church on LaFayette Street opened its fellowship hall Wednesday.

They say anyone is welcome to stop in briefly or spend the day. They say you can bring your cell phone and charger, a book, or just yourself.

We’re providing water, some snacks. We have some games, some card games, some board games. We also have a TV with a DVD player. We can watch some movies. Basically whatever they would do in the comfort of their living room, but here we have the air conditioning so it’ll more comfortable for them.

They say they have popsicles in the freezer for visitors.

    They’ll be open now through Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

And next week….if another heat wave moves into the Ohio Valley–as it might–they say they’ll be open for it.

The church is next to McDonald’s in Moundsville.
