MOUNDSVILLE, W.V. ( WTRF ) — Officials said a man is dead after he drove at a high rate of speed into the wall of West Virginia Penitentiary in Moundsville, West Virginia.

The crash came in around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, according to police.

Police said the man was driving a duel wheel one-ton King Cab Dodge Ram pickup truck at a high rate of speed without hitting the brakes when he crashed into the prison wall.

The man died instantly, according to police.

Authorities said the impact of the truck was so massive that debris from the truck went over the prison wall. Officials also say the prison wall is damaged, even though it’s eight feet thick.

The damage was so powerful that it also broke the axel off the vehicle.

No one else was injured during the crash.

Police said the man was Vince Miceli, 42, of Florida but was originally from the Cameron, West Virginia, area.

Police said the crash is still under investigation.
