    • A Mooresville man has been jailed under a $268,500 secured bond on trafficking and other drug charges involving cocaine and heroin/opium, according to Mount Airy Police Department reports.

Kyron Montrail Baker, 34, was encountered by city officers last Wednesday at a store in Mayberry Mall and served with warrants and orders for arrest on those violations that had been issued in his home city on April 22.

Baker is accused of three felonies: possession of cocaine; possession of cocaine with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver; and two counts of attempted trafficking of opium or heroin.

Why he was in Mount Airy was not readily known.

Baker was held in the Surry County Jail under the large secured bond awaiting a June 11 court appearance in Iredell County, where Mooresville is located.

    • Jennifer Rose Martin, 26, of 1131 Linville Road, was charged on May 2 with possession of methamphetamine, a felony, and possessing drug paraphernalia after coming into contact with police at a license checkpoint on North Franklin Road at Pipers Gap Road.

In addition to allegedly being found with meth and paraphernalia, Martin was the subject of two outstanding orders for arrest for failing to appear in court in both Wilkes and Yadkin counties which had been filed in March.

She was held in the Surry County Jail under a $36,500 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in District Court in Dobson on June 10.

    • Danny Elroy Alexander, 65, of 1100 River Road, Ararat, Virginia, was charged with larceny on April 26 after an incident at a local business, Fish Hippie on West Lebanon Street.

Police records indicate that Alexander took unspecified property, which was recovered intact. He is scheduled to be in Surry District Court Friday.

    • A break-in was discovered on April 21 at the residence of John Allan Attaway in the 600 block of Greenhill Road. Miscellaneous camping items, a Jansport backpack and a plastic filter bottle — valued altogether at $110 — were listed as stolen.
