    Foothills Young Professionals hosting luncheon

    Next week the Foothills Young Professionals group will be hosting a Lunch and Learn event featuring leaders from the area.

    The event is entitled ‘Nurturing New Leaders in a Dynamic World’ and will welcome participants to lunch and hear from a panel of business leaders as well as keynote speaker North Carolina Rep. Kyle Hall, who represents District 91 encompassing all of Stokes County and the northern reaches of Forsyth County.

    Organizers invite anyone interested to participate in the event on Friday, May 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Viticulture Center on the grounds of Surry Community College. Advance registration is required and attendance to the event costs $25.

    “Join an energized and dedicated network of your peers for an inspiring lunchtime education event,” organizers wrote. “Hear from keynote speaker Rep. Kyle Hall on leadership and empowerment as a young professional, network with like-minded individuals to form lasting connections, and learn from industry leaders through engaging panel discussion.

    Surry Community College’s Director of Institutional Research Dr. Katie Bowman will facilitate the event.

    On the panel for the group discussion will be former Mount Airy Main Street Coordinator and current North Carolina Department of Commerce employee Lizzie Morrison, Lenise Lynch of Hampton Inn and the immediate past chairwoman of the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce, Albert Blackmon of SAS Institute, Tonda Phillips from Allstate Insurance, Jay Lara of Carport Central, and Surry Community College President Dr. David Shockley.

    This Foothills Young Professionals event is sponsored by the Surry County Economic Development Partnership and in partnership with the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce.
